    Description

This is a fun way to introduce the concept of juxtaposition using youtube clips (Up, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Wizard of Oz), pictures, and examples from literature. The top of the worksheet has a definition, two sentence frames so they understand how to place juxtaposition and juxtapose into a sentence, and an example on the analysis.

This has a high level of engagement and students develop a clear picture of how Juxtaposition is used and how to analyze it.

This also includes an answer sheet, so it can be left as a sub plan if needed.

The second part of this bundle is a brief quiz where students show their understanding of Juxtaposition.

    1. They define it and then they analyze 3 different text mediums.
    2. They analyze a clip from Beauty and the Beast that juxtaposes the Beast and Gaston.
    3. They analyze a picture that juxtaposes a tank with the picture of a child's tricycle.
    4. They analyze a text that juxtaposes a destroyed city with a single colorful shoe that is leftover.

An answer key is included and the assessment if fully editable so you can change it to meet the needs of your students.
