In this engaging lesson, students will learn the key differences between justices who use judicial activism vs. judicial restraint in their interpretation of the United States Constitution and law code. The lesson begins with an informational reading page for students to explore followed by a set of text dependent questions on the reading. After the questions, students will complete the “Quote Me” activity in which students analyze quotations by Justice Scalia and Justice Ginsberg to understand their judicial philosophies and the impact the philosophies have on the court.
