Description

Extra practice to go along with Journeys First Grade Unit 1; Lesson 3, "The Storm." Activities provide independent practice in reading, sight word recognition, grammar, phonics, and writing.

Future supplemental workbooks will follow the same format as much as possible so the children can look at a page and easily know what to do on that page with minimal instruction from you.

In this download, you get 18 pages that focus on:

*identifying high frequency words

*identifying short i

*word building with word families -in, -ig, and -it

*comprehension, understanding characters

*grammar, nouns name places and things

*writing captions

*grammar, complete and incomplete sentence

*activities that can be used in small group or centers

Although this was designed to accompany the Journeys reading series, you can see that the skills are applicable to any first grade curriculum. You do not have to read the story to complete the pages.

This product works well with Journeys-based Sight and Spelling Word Crowns: Lesson 2: The Storm
