Description

This bundle includes short biographies for eleven jazz musicians, and two versions of an activity worksheet "Meet the Jazz Musician." One version of the worksheet is more appropriate for grades 2-3, and the other is more appropriate for grades 4-6.
The biographies are written to be easily accessible for 2nd-3rd graders, but will likely be a helpful resource for students in older grades who need additional support with reading.
These biographies and worksheets are a great resource for Black History Month, for ELA, or for studying Jazz in the music classroom!
In my classroom, my students read the articles and use the worksheets to organize the information they have learned about the jazz musician they are studying. Then, depending on the class, they either prepare a skit where one student pretends to be the jazz musician and another student pretends to be the interviewer, or students in groups make a poster or other media presentation and present their project to the class.
