Description

Introduce students to real world systems of equations with this activity. Students will create one graph from a table of values and one graph from an equation to create a system of equations. They will interpret the meaning of the solution to the system of equations.

I have used this handout as part of an assessment to see what inferences students can draw from graphs and systems. The activity does not require students to have prior knowledge of systems. With an understanding of interpreting graphs, students can discover what happens when 2 lines are graphed together, or as a system. Based on the information given about tree grown, students should interpret the meaning of the system of equations.
