Introduction to Programming - Minecraft Inspired Adventure

This package contains 12 work sheets designed for students to explore Functions, Conditional Statements If/Else Statements and While Loops. The package has students follow a simple story line where heroes Alex and Steve find an abandoned house. They are forced to jump down into a cavern where they must jump lava in order to reach the treasure room. The package also includes a physical game where students call functions to navigate their peers around.

The package does not require students to individually have access to a computer, therefore is a great tool for teachers to teach programming in the classroom. The tasks can be printed separately or turned into small work books. The game at the end can be adapted to what’s appropriate for your class. It can be played on anything that resembles a life size chess board, whether that is a grid marked out with tape, chalk, carpet tiles etc. If you only have access to one gaming field, students can take turns observing and then participating. If you have access to more fields, multiple games can be played at the same time.
