What educators are saying

I love this resource! I was looking for a way to introduce the depth & complexity icons with my 2nd grade students and these books and accompanying activities were perfect!
This is a fabulous resource. The books and materials are great to use with gifted learners. My TD 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes all enjoyed various lessons from this resouce.

Description

This resource is designed to help you introduce Sandra Kaplan's icons of Depth and Complexity using readily available trade books. It includes background information on each icon and trade book, a focus mat on each icon as it relates to a specific trade book, critical thinking questions to help students analyze the literature with additional icons, a suggested reading list for additional practice, and rubrics to assess learning.

Once your students have a firm understanding of the icons, they'll love applying them in one of our advanced novel studies, or with fables or fairy tales (plus STEM activities!)
