What educators are saying

Comprehensive resource with a variety of tools to help teach clients about interception. Thank you for the great resource!
This resource is used every day in my clinic! I work with mostly neurodivergent clients and most have difficulty with their interoceptive skills. The activities and visuals are engaging and are easily adapted for different ages.

    Description

Are you looking for engaging interoception activities / games to help your students identify their own emotions? This best selling interoception bundle is full of excellent social and emotional learning (SEL) resources to support students to develop their ability to recognise their own internal body sensations and link them to feelings and emotions.

Interoception is one of our three internal senses. It is our ability to notice sensations in our body and link these sensations to feelings and emotions. It supports our emotional regulation.

Sometimes we can have trouble connecting how we feel on the inside to our emotions. For example, some kids might only feel really large sensations in their body, they might not be able to notice and connect how they feel with smaller sensations.

These kids may not notice they are becoming annoyed or frustrated. They may only notice when they are feeling really angry. These might be the kids who seem to go from 0-100 so quickly!

If a child is starting to become frustrated but they are not noticing, it is almost impossible for them to know when it would be helpful to use a tool like taking some deep breaths.

This is why it is so important to introduce interoception activities with your students or clients as part of any social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum. It’s been a game-changer for some students who I’ve worked with in supporting them to know how they feel.

    The best bit?

These interoception activities and games are designed to be fun, engaging and adaptable with simple language and lots of visuals.

    List of resources

    • Activity 1: Social Narrative Story - This engaging social narrative details what body sensations are, why they are important and how body sensations give us clues to our feelings. As we can all experience different sensations for different feelings, it comes with an editable version where students can customize body sensations to feelings that are specific to the student.

    • Activity 2: Body Signals Visuals - This extensive pack comes with 85 different body sensations! Body sensations are grouped into different parts of the body, e.g. skin, brain, hands, stomach, heart, lungs, etc. Perfect for visual learners!

    • Activity 3: Interoception Activity Cards - This pack includes 24 interoception / body sensation activity cards. Use activities as a warm up, main activity or as brain break. This pack also inlcudes an Interoception Challenge Cards Body Sensations Poster - Poster features a range of interoception activities for students to complete (set in a bingo format). Hang poster in the classroom, therapy room or send home to families and have students practice noticing body sensations all week!

    • Activity 4: Interoception bingo (K-1st grade)- Use this fun interoception game to develop students' vocabulary and understanding of body sensations, and how body sensations are linked to feelings.

    • Activity 5: Body Sensation Thermometer - The body sensations thermometer is an engaging and visual activity to help students notice and differentiate between small, medium and large body sensations.

    • Activity 6: Body Mapping Activity - This is one of my favorite activities to help teach interoception! Students link different body sensations to emotions using an outline of a body.

    • Activity 7: Interoception board game: linking body sensations to feelings - This is a fun and engaging game to help reinforce interoception concepts. It also includes a life size version that you can print out and lay across the floor for the student to walk around as they play - it’s super fun and kiddos love this version.

    • Activity 8: Interoception card game - These interoception card games are fun, interactive, adaptable, and purposeful. Three interoception card games are included - shedding style game, memory, and snap - each with instructions. A tip sheet and body sensation visuals are also included - to support a wide variety of learners!

    • Activity 9: Interoception bingo (2nd+ grade) - Use this fun interoception game to develop students' vocabulary and understanding of body sensations, and how body sensations are linked to feelings.

    • Activity 10: Interoception Body Signals classroom display - This isn't just a classroom display - it's a dynamic and interactive interoception tool that evolves with students' mood and needs. It can be used for daily feelings check ins or during SEL lessons.

    • Bonus file: This is a PowerPoint presentation that combines the interoception (body signal) activity cards with interoception visuals in an easy-to-use format for classroom whiteboards or for telehealth online.
