What educators are saying

My students loved this resource! They were engaged the whole time. It was easy to prep and not much was required to add it to my lesson. It is absolutely worth the purchase.
My students loved this resource because it made them really think about the math words they were learning and helped them explain them.

Description

Interactive Math Vocabulary contains 205 vocabulary words specific to 5th grade Common Core Math. Each word contains an illustration and definition.

Each vocabulary word has its own flap, and each flap has 3 parts.

Explain it! - Under the Explain it! flap, students explain the word in a way that makes sense to them. This could be words, pictures, or numbers.

Here's How it Works! - This is where students apply the word and how it works mathematically.

How might this be used in the real world? - We want students to think mathematically beyond math class, so this requires them to brainstorm ways in which the concept might be used in the world they know.

Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Use operations on fractions for this grade to solve problems involving information presented in line plots. For example, given different measurements of liquid in identical beakers, find the amount of liquid each beaker would contain if the total amount in all the beakers were redistributed equally.
Recognize volume as an attribute of solid figures and understand concepts of volume measurement.
A cube with side length 1 unit, called a “unit cube,” is said to have “one cubic unit” of volume, and can be used to measure volume.
A solid figure which can be packed without gaps or overlaps using 𝘯 unit cubes is said to have a volume of 𝘯 cubic units.
