Quizzes:

  1. Chapters 1 – 7 have 16 vocabulary words and the three quizzes have 34 questions
  2. Chapters 8 – 11 have 16 vocabulary words and the three quizzes have 34 questions
  3. Chapters 12 – 17 have 16 vocabulary words and the three quizzes have 34 questions
  4. Chapters 18 – 25 have 16 vocabulary words and the three quizzes have 34 questions
  5. Chapters 26 – 32 have 16 vocabulary words and the three quizzes have 34 questions
  6. Chapters 33 – 39 have 14 vocabulary words and the three quizzes have 36 questions
  • Part one ~ match each word with the correct definition
  • Part two ~ Sentences with fill in the blank with the appropriate vocabulary word. Most sentences are quoted from the novel. A word box is included.
  • Part three ~ complete the analogies using the best word from the word box. Then,
  • identify whether the words in the analogies are synonyms or antonyms.
  • Part three includes the definition of an analogy and examples of analogies for both synonyms and antonyms.
  • Starting on the second quiz – vocabulary words from the previous section are included on the analogy quizzes. These words are highlighted on the answer keys.

Modified Quiz:

  • Quizzes have the same number of questions but are broken down into smaller units.
  • The word modified only appears on the answer keys. Therefore, you will have to sort these pages out when printing your quizzes.
  • Many of the analogies are modified

Work Sheets:

  • There are three sets of work sheets – each set includes six work sheets
  • Two sets give the vocabulary word and the page and paragraph number; one work sheet has more space for students to write.
  • Modified work sheets also include the sentence from the novel

Study Guides:

  • Vocabulary words
  • Page and paragraph numbers where the word is found in the novel
  • Given out after students complete work sheets
  • Designed so that students can cut out and match up to study or paste on index cards
  • All definitions correspond to the use of the word in the text

Detailed Answer Keys

  • Study guides double as answer keys for work sheets
  • Answer keys are copies of quizzes with the answers
