What educators are saying
Description
Hearing the initial sounds of a word and knowing which letter they are hearing is an important step of the decoding and sounding out word process. So providing your students with plenty of exposure to sounding out and hearing sounds the initial alphabet sound helps to develop these skills.
This pack provides you with 7 initial alphabet sound picture cards for most letters of the alphabet for students to sound out and match to the correct letter of the alphabet. You can choose to use all or some of the pictures based on your student's knowledge.
This pack also includes sorting mats to use the activity as part of a literacy center.
Each letter of the alphabet has a 'grounding strip' at the bottom of the card to aid your students with the orientation of each letter and avoids letter flipping and stressing as to which way the letter goes - this is an important step with our new learners and those with learning difficulties and dyslexia.
