This visual aid is designed as an accommodation for students with a visual learning preference. While you teach from your teacher's guide, this will help kids with needs in visual learning access the material. These slides have worked well for inclusive classrooms for children who are deaf / hearing impaired, need visual as well as auditory stimuli, and any classroom where the delivery needs to be auditory as well as visual (which is just about any classroom).

NOTE: This visual aid is not beneficial for anyone who does not have the printed teacher guides. Please do not purchase this product if you do not have the materials from the publisher.

Informational Writing: Main Ideas, Supporting Details, Transitions, Introductions, Conclusions, Text Structures, Text Features, and MORE! - COMPLETE BUNDLE - 16 sessions - 3rd through 5th Grade - ALL 4 Versions (Slides, PowerPoint, SMART Notebook, and PDF) are included for this one price.

16 sessions (see below for the listing) - over 500 slides. Purchasing this product gives you access to this unit in Google Slides, PowerPoint, SMART Notebook, and PDF (PDF version is not editable). When you purchase this product, you will get a one page PDF that will contain the links of all 4 formats - you choose which format works best for you.

This is an ideal unit for teachers that will be on extended leave and want to have something for the substitute to teach that will require minimal prep time. If your kids are familiar with the “workshop” format, they’ll fit right in.

Please note: This particular unit does not precisely follow the plan set out by Lucy Calkins in her A CURRICULAR PLAN FOR THE READING WORKSHOP, GRADE 5, 2011–2012 and is really just our own way of developing a 3rd grade unit for Informational Writing. Some of the teaching points were borrowed from a lot of different sources. In any case, for any of the anchor charts, complete lesson details, and digital resources, you will need to purchase the Calkins units. This is not meant to be a replacement, only a presentation supplement.

This is the complete bundle of all the PDF presentations - from Lesson 1 through Lesson 12 (see below).

CCSS Standard

NOTE: Session 05 was originally written, but subsequently scrapped. There are 16 sessions (15a was added).

The lessons follow the Workshop structure of Connection, Teaching Point, Teaching, Active Engagement, Independent Work, and Share. Each of these sections have a different background color and are identified on most slides in the upper right portion of the slide.

NOTE: The preview and thumbnails are just a FEW slides from one session of this unit, but all the files follow the same format with Connection, Teaching, Active Engagement, Link, MidWorkshop Teaching Point, and Share.

Comments and questions are always appreciated.
