What educators are saying

This resource is very helpful to use with struggling students. It took the stress away of how they should organize their essay.
A very helpful resource to introduce information writing using language forms. We placed parts in our journals for easy reference.

Description

This product includes posters and work pages (digital or printable) on "how to" write an introduction, detail paragraphs, and conclusions. It also includes examples of what a graphic organizer and final product would look like. Each section incorporates leveled sentence frames from beginning/"simple" (circle), Intermediate/ "Sufficient" (triangle), and Advanced/"Sophisticated" (diamond).

This Informational Writing is based on TBEAR (Topic, Background info, Examples/Evidence, Analysis, Reflect/Restate). The parts included in the work pages are:

- Introduction: Hook, Background/Bridge, Topic Sentence

- Body Paragraphs: Topic Sentence, Examples/Evidence, Analysis/Reflection

- Conclusion: Restate Topic, Reflection Summary, Final Impression

- Revise

- Edit

- Publish

The informational posters can be printed on regular paper, blown up into posters, or shrunk down for INB pages. I've had great success with this and my students' Informational Writing has improved drastically and, because it is so accessible, they enjoy writing! Any questions, please ask!

UPDATED: Along with the posters, I've added a link to digital worksheets that walk students through writing an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
