What educators are saying

I used this with my 4th graders. It says it's for 5th graders and that is right. My top 4th graders could use it, but it was too much for my 4th graders. Although It did help me with some enrichment activities.

Description

Topics: Bar Graphs, Line Graphs, Pie Graphs/Charts, Diagrams, Charts/Tables

This unit was developed to fill a gap. Students were struggling to read bar graphs, line graphs, and diagrams. They filtered poorly, skipped key information, or ignored charts and graphs entirely. This was a huge problem since infographics are a major part of academic reading and state testing. This unit was created to teach students strategies for understanding infographics. The results exceeded our expectations, with ripples that extended across content areas and throughout the year.

Unit Components:

  1. Detailed mini-lessons on the following: bar graphs, line graphs, pie graphs, diagrams, and charts
  2. Checkpoints for independent student practice via Google Forms, complete with full-sized, fully colored graphs
  3. Summative Assessment via Google Forms

You’ll receive the following materials:

  • Slides presentation
  • Detailed lesson plans
  • (5) Google Form Checkpoint Assignments
  • Google Form Unit Exam
  • Class Survey Form
  • Checkpoint Recovery – Growth Tracker Handout
  • Enrichment Activities (two versions)
  • High-quality graphs, which you are free to modify and reuse
