Influential Canadians Google Slide- Over 100 slides

What is included:

There are 103 Google Slides each of which highlight a different Canadian who has positively influenced Canadian society. Each slide has an image of the individual, and a brief backstory of the person as well as highlighting their accomplishments. There are also 3 slides that list many more influential Canadians that can be used for students to research. The slideshow was made to be inclusive of individuals from various gender identities, races, religions, sexual orientations and abilities.

Note: The influential Canadians are not all people from the past. This resource lists individuals in birth order, ranging from Canadian born in 2006 doing great things!

How to Use:

In my own intermediate classroom I display a new slide each day and read it with my class and encourage discussion. Students have mentioned they appreciate learning about different individuals and have been excited when someone with a similar identity was the person of the day

You may choose to have students research/ do a project on one of these individuals, or focus on some of these individuals during various Heritage months throughout the year. This resource is a quick way to bring equity and inclusivity into the classroom each day without planning
