Description

I made this Immigration Scrapbook activity as a companion project to In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson by Bette Bao Lord (check out my novel study, also listed in my TPT store). I LOVE this book, and it is such a good novel study to include in a study of immigration or just on its own. For this scrapbook activity, students put themselves in the place of an immigrant and create a character who immigrates to the United States, just as Lord did with Shirley Temple Wong. With teacher guidance or for homework, students write thoughtful descriptions of their character's voyage to America, time with new friends, and challenges and triumphs in school. It is the perfect creative writing activity to close your study of immigration, using The Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson by Bette Bao LordCCSS W.3-W.6

** During this time when we are out of school and engaging with our students online and in a distance learning capacity, you may distribute my products to you students using the internet (but not in a way so that they are available to EVERYONE on the internet) Ex: Google Classroom is fine!**
