What educators are saying

I'm in charge of our Social Emotional Learning/Leader In Me Lessons with a very limited time frame. These google slides are so easy and catch our young readers eyes. The activities are age appropriate too. Thanks for making it easy on me with these simple to use slides.
Ignoring is an important topic for early elementary students as well as difficult. This resource makes the topic more visual and tangible for successful practice of the skill.

Description

Easy grab-and-go counseling lesson to teach kids about ignoring distractions that aren’t harming others. Includes ASCA lesson plan, worksheet, game instructions, optional book list, and google slides. Lesson involves discussion, skills practice, an activity, and examples to practice.

This lesson is super simple - just put on the google slides and work through the easy discussion questions. Very low prep for all you super busy counselors out there!

Booklist is included for an optional list of books to choose from on sharing to open your lesson - though this is not required and the lesson still works without it.

Lesson Objectives:

  • Students will be able to distinguish between actions they should tell a teacher about and those that they can ignore.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate how to ignore distractions that aren’t harming anyone by looking away, turning away, and walking away.

ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors:

  • B-SMS2 Self-discipline and self-control
  • B-SMS7  Effective coping skills
