What is Dot Day? International Dot Day is celebrated every year on the 15th of September. This holiday was created by a teacher named Terry Shay back in 2009 as a way of celebrating creativity, courage, and collaboration. The whole event is inspired by a children's book called The Dot, which was written by Peter H. Reynolds.

    Ways to Use

    Have a Dot Day...or week!

Pick and choose which activities you want to do...or do them all!

    Stations around your room.

Rotate from room to room to complete one activity in each room.

•Do one activity each day for a week.

•Do activities as a whole class.

•Can even be used by a sub!

Ways I Use It In My Classroom

I like to work with other teachers in my school and let the students rotate from room to room. We start by all reading the book, The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds (or watching it here). We then read the passage and answer the questions in our homerooms. Students then rotate to the following activities. When finished, they come back to their homeroom to do the writing and research activities.

•Room 1: Minute to Win It

    •Room 2: Art Activity

    •Room 3: STEM

    •Room 4: Creation Stations
