The lessons include the following:

1. European Exploration and Colonization in the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries - primary source excerpts with compare and contrast graphic organizer note-taking activity.

2. European Encounter and Perception of the Native Populations - primary source excerpts from Spanish, French, and English explorers and writers.

3. Slave Trade and European Perception and Treatment of Slaves - primary source activity with maps.

The detailed study guide activities include the following:

1. Identify and match key explorers from the major European nation-states of Spain, Portugal, England, and France. [Teacher Answer Key is provided.]

2. Compare and Contrast the impact that the Columbian Exchange had on Europe and the Americas from a political, economic, and social standpoint. [Teacher Answer Key is provided.]
