Why not explore the International Baccalaureate (IB) Action Cycle (Choose, Act, Reflect) when learning about narrative story elements?
In this resource, IB learners will be encouraged to explore
- the problem the characters face in a narrative,
- what actions the character takes and
- reflect on what happens as a result (solution).
What are some ways I can use this FREE resource?
This resource can be used time and time again with your choice (or your students' choice) of picture story book or novel,
- either as a whole class or small reading groups
- guided reading
- student-led book club
- small group instruction on story elements etc.
- independent student task
- center task
- literature circles
- home work
- response to a movie related to the content you are teaching
There is also a task sheet option with sentence stems to support less able readers/writers, as well as a sheet that includes additional reflection questions for extension.
