What educators are saying

These are laminated and put up in my classroom. The administrators use my classroom as an exemplary MYP class room when they hire new teachers. Thank you!
These are fantastic. I used them for a game I played with teachers during professional development. They are perfect for the classroom though!

Description

When I was first getting going as an IB teacher, I had no idea where to start. I wanted to incorporate the Learner Profiles in a meaningful way, while making connections to real people that my students might know or had heard of.

I created these 10 color posters to celebrate individuals in history who have made a difference and who exemplify the learner profiles. Included in this set is a poster for the following:

Caring- Jane Goodall (Animal Activist)

Risk Taker- Malala Yousafzai (Gender Equality/Education Activist)

Inquirer- Steve Jobs (Inventor and Entrepreneur, the Co-founder and chairman of Apple)

Knowledgeable- Nelson Mandala (Anti-Apartheid Activist and South Africa's 1st President)

Principled- Greta Thunberg (Environmental Activist)

Reflective- Anne Frank (Memoirist and Jewish Holocaust Victim) ✡️

Thinker- Tu Youyou (Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Scientist who found cure for malaria)

Open-Minded- Frida Kahlo (Painter)

Balanced- Ghandi (Indian revolutionary and nonviolent activist)

Communicator- Maya Angelou (Writer, Poet, & Civil Rights Activist)

The figures selected were done so in hopes of creating a wide variety of scientists, writers, artists, activists, and world leaders representative of cultures from around the world. To this end, the flag of each person's nation is included to promote conversations about international mindedness. A quote by each individual accompanies the poster making a direct connection to the learner profile on display.

(**Please note that while Anne Frank was a German girl by birth and citizenship, her citizenship was revoked in 1941. I have included two posters and you can choose whether or not to include the German flag. Both posters have the Star of David to represent her faith.)

Great for making real world connections, this set would be an amazing start for a teacher new to teaching IB. As you build conversations around the Learner Profile, you can have your students create their own posters too!
