Description
Hunters safety is becoming more and more popular in schools. As one of the many topics covered in a hunters safety class, tree stand safety is one of them. A simple safety harness can save a person from a nasty fall and severe injuries.
This is a simple diagram that can be used to help teach tree stand safety and the effects of a fall from a tree stand. It is important to teach kids and adults alike that a fall from any height can be harmful, but the higher you are, the harder you fall.
This diagram uses common tree stand heights of 12, 16, and 20 feet high, and based on a 180 lb person. It shows how fast you will hit the ground, and with how much force.
At only 12 feet high, a 180 lb. person hits the ground with 8,237 lbs. of force and reaches a speed of 18.4 mph!
