Description

After reading Night and studying Elie Wiesel's life after the Holocaust, my students completed this research paper. It is a very simple assignment--a vehicle for me to introduce the research skills and background they will need to write a "real" research paper next year in the 11th grade. You could certainly make it more difficult by changing the requirements on the rubrics, but using the same concept.

The assignment consists of three parts: a two- to three- page research paper, a visual aid, and a presentation. I have attached simple rubrics for each of the parts as well.

My pre-reading activity pairs nicely with this project. Students get a chance to find out who Elie Wiesel is and what he believes in before they read the book:
