    Guided Notes for the Unit

    Description

Why spend hours creating a slide deck for your human body unit? This Slides presentation is ready to be used today! The slide deck introduces students to the interesting levels of organization in the body, as well as all of the major organ systems.  It also contains several Pear Deck interactive activities/questions to check for understanding and keep students engaged!

This unit bundle contains assignments and slide decks that are all created with Google Apps and can easily be shared through Google Classroom - making them perfect for your digital classroom or eLearning (remote or virtual learning). I think this is best taught over the course of four weeks, but time will vary based on your grade levels, standards, and student capabilities.  Here's what's included:

    GOOGLE SLIDES PRESENTATION

    • This presentation is structured to answer the following questions:  What are the cells, tissues, organs and organ systems?  What are some common types and purposes of each?  What are the organ systems in the body?  What is the function of each organ system?  What organs are included in each system?  What is the purpose of each organ?
    • Pear Deck interactives are built into the slide deck.  These interactives include questions (multiple-choice) to check for understanding, other interactives, and lots of drag-and-drop the dots on parts activities.
    • Every object/term contains high-quality images to associate words with pictures. There are several, relevant videos (Brain POP links) throughout that reinforce the key concepts.
    • Topics include: Levels of Organization in Humans (cells, tissues, organs, and systems), Circulatory System, Respiratory System, Muscular System, Skeletal System, Digestive System, Excretory/Urinary System, Nervous System, and Integumentary System.
    • There are a total of over 400 slides
    • Slides were designed for 7-8th grade, but I think it can appropriately be used in 6th through 10th depending on your standards, students, and depth-of-the-knowledge you require. It may also work as introduction in Anatomy classes.

FIFTEEN INTERACTIVES (DRAG-AND-DROPS) in Google Slides

    • Each product comes is designed with 2-4 variations of the assignment: drag-and-drop, matching, labeling without a word bank or labeling with a word bank. All labeling activities have clickable text boxes so students know where to provide answers.
    • Within one slide deck, please feel free to use any of the assignments or pick and choose what best serves your students and standards. As an example, you may wish to use the drag-and-drop activity today, but save the labeling activity for next week.
    • How do you share with students? Just copy the slide you want to use today into a new slide deck (or slide deck you will be sharing with students). Then assign the slide deck to students.
    • This is fully editable and can also be used as a handout or as an opening/closing activity. You can also add/delete images, change colors, etc.
    • Be sure to delete the answer keys before sharing with students!

ELEVEN CLOZE READINGS in Google Docs

    • CLOZE reading passages are created in Google Docs and can easily be shared through Google Classroom. They can also be edited and printed as handouts, if you wish.
    • CLOZE passages are incredible ways for students to reinforce critical concepts and vocabulary, build reading comprehension and stamina, develop context clues skills, and also expand their language and fluency skills.  CLOZE reads are especially helpful for struggling readers and ESOL students.
    • Scroll through the list below to find specific CLOZE passages.

    NINE ASSESSMENTS in Google Forms

    • Assessment have around 20 multiple-choice questions with a variety of depth to questions.
    • All questions are keyed in the Form - please feel free to double-check me, but this should be set up and ready to go. You will be receiving automatic feedback instantly!
    • Editable or customizable - feel free to add or delete questions.
    • This assessment was designed for 7th- and 8th-grade students, but I feel that it works well in 6th-12th grade standards, depending on your content.
    • Other than as a quiz, I think it serves well as a pre- or post-assessment for middle school units, task cards, or even a test review worksheet.
    • Please note - the endocrine, reproductive, and immune systems are not included in this bundle.

Please Note: You are the real superhero!  This slide deck is just a tool you can add to your toolkit, but you are the teacher who will change lives.  My hope is that this resource makes your life easier and saves you time, and that you find the slide deck to be excellent in quality, design, information, and organization.

All of these resources can be purchased individually in mystore, as well.
