I usually asked them to write one accounting sheet perch each figure column (1 to 9 examples), 5 times each writing the numbers and written figures. It is an exercise that help them a lot because they develope better control of their handwriting, besides understanding more the amounts. They understand the importance of writing in a clear and precise manner so they can do better in math in the future.
