Sketching is a skill that every art student should know! This google slides presentation (26 total slides) goes over the fundamentals and techniques of sketching: How to hold your pencil, using basic shapes, shading techniques, and more! This is a great presentation to use at the beginning of a project! Almost every art project begins with sketching and students that don’t know how to do this often feel like they are failing at the assignment before they begin. Giving them the techniques to sketch helps them understand how to brainstorm on paper and leads to better final products.

This Google Slides presentation can be used in a classroom but it‘s also a great resource for distance learning! Use it in a lesson and then keep it in your google classroom under materials so that students can reference it when they need a refresher.
10 SKETCH SCAVENGER HUNTS
These sketch scavenger hunts help students practice their sketching skills with the items they have in their homes. The sketching prompts are designed to be open ended so that students can interpret them in a creative way. (For example: “Sketch something with four legs” could be a dog, cat, chair, table, etc...). This style of prompt will motivate your students by allowing them to take ownership of their artwork.

- 10 Sketch Scavenger Hunts (separate Google Slides presentations / 6 slides each
- 5 prompts per Google Slides presentation

If you used one scavenger hunt a week that would be 10 weeks worth!!!

- a daily warm up assignment that students complete though out the week
Extra Credit
Students are always asking for extra credit! Post this on your Google Classroom or print out a scavenger hunt for them to take home. This is also a fun summer project for students that love to draw!
Homework
Getting students to draw outside the classroom can be challenging. It is difficult to create an assignment that is easy for all students to complete at home.
