HOME ALONE QUIZ

(first 40 min of the movie)

Home alone QUIZ includes:

-4 different rounds

-from 7 to 10 questions in each

-every round after 10 minutes of the movie

-screenshots from the movie

Formats: PDF, Google Slides, PowerPoint

The Quiz is suitable for primary and middle school students, teenagers, adults and everyone who has a tradition to watch Home Alone over Christmas / New Year.

Lesson Objectives:

• motivate students to learn English with their favourite characters and Christmas / New Year’s traditions,
• bring up a habit to listen to native speakers and understand them step by step,
• have fun and enjoy learning.

Teacher’s Instruction

Before the lesson:

1.Give students a task to watch the movie before the lesson. (optional)

2.Tell students to translate and learn the next words (preferably):

a suitcase

a neighbour

gingerbread

a joke

to hurry

an emergency

to book

a wimp

secure

a relief

exhausted

On the lesson (Option 1):

1.Complete the Memory Game to check the words understanding. Download it for free here

2.Watch the movie in English for 10 min! (You can turn on subtitles!) After 10 min turn on the Quiz (round 1) and answer the questions.

3.Turn on the movie for 10 min again and answer the questions of round 2.

4.Repeat it again till the end of the quiz.

5.Complete an extra activity from the presentation to memorise extra phrases from the quiz.

On the lesson (Option 2):

1.Watch the movie in English for 10 min! (You can turn on subtitles!) After 10 min turn on the Quiz (round 1) and answer the questions.

2.Turn on the movie for 10 min again and answer the questions of round 2.

3.Repeat it again till the end of the quiz.

4.Complete the Memory Game and Extra Activity to memorise the words from the quiz. Download it for free here

Note: 

You can count the points and name the winner at the end.

Teaching duration depends on the amount of students, their age, lesson format, extra activities included.
