What educators are saying

The graphic organizers were nicely done. Each was set up with a country and things to research about each.
This resource was SO easy to put together a collaborative activity for my students to learn about Spanish speaking countries, thank you!

Description

Introduce students to the culture of 21 Hispanic countries. Each Hispanic country activity features food, people, unique places or cultural elements as well as the capital, official country name, and flag symbolism.  Much more than a worksheet, these Spanish speaking country sheets are designed as a starting point to explore Hispanic countries’ culture. Great for Hispanic Heritage month or for year-round use, introducing one or two countries each unit.

This Hispanic culture activity is designed for novices or as a starting point for deeper exploration of Hispanic culture for advanced students.

These sheets are NOT meant to be a fill it out, review it, be done with it, resource.  They are intended to be a starting point to explore Hispanic culture.

How to use these Hispanic Culture Activity Sheets:

⭐️Compare and contrast the famous Hispanic person with a famous person from the students' own culture.

⭐️Plan a trip to one of the interesting places in a Spanish speaking country. What will they wear? What will they pack? What will they do in these Hispanic countries?

⭐️Explore one of the interesting things in more depth.

⭐️Explore the challenges faced by Celia Cruz and why her legacy is so important. ⭐️Research the work of the Abuelas de plaza de mayo.

⭐️Use as an introduction to songs like “Soy yo” by Bomba Estéreo or “Latinoamérica” by Calle 13 (Residente), or any of Juan Luis Guerra’s songs.

⭐️For novices, describe the physical appearance of a person.

⭐️Print a picture and label one of the interesting things’ colors, features, describe the weather, etc.

⭐️Explore the indigenous people of the Spanish speaking country and how their culture is still represented in present day life.

⭐️Use these Hispanic culture activity sheets for a sub day.

⭐️Jigsaw them and have students use a sheet as an outline to create a presentation for the class or a video using something like Flipgrid or Screencast-O-Matic.

⭐️Find a video of Cantinflas or a poem by Rubén Darío to analyze.

These Spanish speaking country sheets can be so much more than a worksheet with facts to memorize. It is my hope that they will spark interest and excitement in your students to explore rich, diverse, Hispanic cultures.

What teachers are saying about these Hispanic culture activities

❤️I used these culture sheets with my AP students as they get ready to make cultural comparisons in preparation for the AP exam. These sheets are a great way to get started :)

❤️I am teaching a new class of "Latino/Hispanic" countries and cultures.  This was such a time saver and helped the students organize and learn about the various countries!

❤️I bought this resource to supplement our travel unit and it was, in my opinion, a great buy. It focuses the students in their research rather than them just searching "Argentina" in Google.

❤️This was super helpful to learn about other countries, people, food and more.  Additionally, my bulletin board was lovely for Back to School night!  :)

❤️So versatile!! Great for all levels and cultural days. Could be use as introduction for Spanish 1 or for an extensive presentation for AP levels!!

Great resource, a must have in every language classroom!!
