What educators are saying
Description
Provide your students with a meaningful opportunity to learn more about learning disabilities, teach them the importance of compassion, and empower them with the knowledge that having a learning disability does not prevent their ABILITY to achieve.
The Breaking Barriers Research Project examines celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and current teens who were able to be successful - despite having learning disabilities!
Through their research, students will learn how others were able to to break through their "barriers," obstacles, and limitations. They also will look at our current state of education by examining facts and statistics about students who are learning disabled, the different types of disabilities, and the truth regarding common misconceptions.
After conducting structured research with a note-taking handout, students will create a slides presentation featuring the experiences of the four people they have chosen to research and present current facts and statistics about learning disabilities.
