What educators are saying

I did this project right before winter break in my sculpture class as a group project and the students HAD SO MUCH FUN! They turned out so cute and enjoyed adding whimsical details with mixed media!
My students LOVED this lesson. They were engaged the entire project and motivated to see this project through from start to finish! Highly recommend this 3D project!

Description

This middle or high school 3D arts and crafts lesson is a great hands-on easy-to-follow lesson for applied art, crafts, and sculpture classes on a budget. Students create whimsical gingerbread houses out of cardboard. The results are fabulous and students love the process. This project works great for a Christmas winter holiday-themed art lesson or for any time of the year.

Students focus on using curving whimsical lines and textures to add interest and personality to their work. They can use air dry clay, candy, or found objects to add Christmas lights, snow, or decorations for any holiday if they wish.

Included In this Cardboard Sculpture Whimsical House Project:

  • A Google Slideshow with step-by-step instructions
  • Student examples
  • Procedure sheet that students can scan to access the slideshow from their own devices
  • Lesson plan with national standards and teacher instructions.

This lesson makes a great display and students enjoy literally thinking outside of the box. This project pairs nicely with craft paper mandalas to make a beautiful winter display.

All of my lessons can be shared with your students through Google Classroom or any digital platform and are formatted to work for distance learning or in the classroom. They are designed to save you time and help your students access the tutorials, presentations, videos, or worksheets as easily as possible. You can find more ready-to-go, easy-to-follow, time-saving art lessons in my TPT SHOP.
