What educators are saying

I love anything that helps me with technology. This was my first time using hexagonal thinking and I will definitely be using it more in the future.
This was a great way to show how concepts in the novel that we were reading were connected. I used it as a review of the chapters we had read prior to winter break. It was so much more engaging than just summarizing prior chapters.

Description

Hexagonal thinking is a creative tool that will help you ignite critical thinking during discussion - online or off. This digital hexagonal thinking toolkit will help you prepare easily for either format.

Hexagonal thinking will get your kids thinking about the connections between big ideas across your unit. It's an easy way to make interdisciplinary connections as well as connect your materials to the world today - always helpful for keeping kids interested!

With this Google slides toolkit, you can get examples, instructions, and templates for three different colorful hexagonal sets. All you have to do is plug in the terms you want the kids to connect, then share the instructions, template, and written explanations slides with the small groups so they can go to it.

Your students can move the terms and hexagons around on the slide, as well as arrows to show the key points of connection they are going to explain.

OR, they can work with it all in small groups in your classroom, if you prefer to print out the materials.

Here's what's inside this digital hexagonal thinking toolkit:

  • Examples to give students a clear picture of their goal
  • Three colorful hexagon decks with editable drag-and-drop text
  • Complete instructions for students to create and explain their webs

What happy teachers are saying about this resource:

"This resource is FANTASTIC! This really made my students think in different ways to hunt for connections at the end of our Dystopian Literature unit. Thank you!"

"This toolkit was super helpful when I was designing my hexagonal thinking assessment for students. They loved the variety of hexagonal thinking organizers and options allowed for student choice."

"I used this with my 11th grade dual credit English class. We had read several short stories and were assigned a theme analysis essay. This activity sparked so many interesting connections among the stories as part of pre-writing. While we were in-person, I used this as part of my paper-less classroom."
