Description

This lesson plan introduces your students to Artist Henri Matisse. The lesson is perfect for K through 4th grade. Students will have the opportunity to create with mixed media techniques.

The student will practice using a stencil, sponge painting, directed line drawing and integration of shapes. The lesson will invite the child to create a beautiful unique art piece based on the techniques used by Mr. Matisse or create an art piece that is based on His work “Fish Bowl.”

You can use this lesson in the following ways:

  • a unit on the art of Henri Matisse
  • a 30- 45 minute sub plan
  • a unit on mixed media techniques
  • a introduction to the many ways artists create, expanding the student's awareness to art in different mediums
  • a lesson on stencil use, cutting and gluing skills
