Description
Heart Words
These slides/posters help teach your kids to learn and decode high frequency words. They can decode these words through identifying the sounds they know and then placing a heart above the irregular/unknown sounds.
Instruction:
- say the word "SAID"
- can you hear the first sound in the word?
- can you hear the last sound?
- what sound is tricky and have to learn "off by heart"?
Includes:
100 irregular words (sight words)

The sound boxes represent the letter sounds that they can hear. Then once they have identified the letter sounds then ask them which part is tricky? Then explain that is what the heart shape represents, the tricky sound.
This is editable so that you can adjust the sound boxes to what the kids already know and the heart part to the sounds that they have not been taught yet.
