Description

I spent a week creating, sampling, testing, then revising this curriculum in my 7th-12th grade public school classrooms. As a 13-year veteran California educator I wanted to make sure this was a quality and actually useful resource in the real-world-classroom. It's tailored to highly engage Generation Z students. I focus on themes and topics that matter to them, such as: social justice, climate change, and equal rights.

I promise you this resource is leaps and bounds above the other offerings in quality, usability, and value. I use it in my own classroom.

The differentiated assessments allow for non-proficient and highly proficient learners to both demonstrate their understanding per their abilities via the simple and fun Illustrated Movie Guide Worksheet all the way on up to the scaffolded essay questions for high achieving students.

So dive into the revolutionary world of "Hamilton: An American Musical" with this comprehensive, zero-prep lesson movie guide packet! I designed this to engage students by facilitating a deeper understanding of the musical but even more important, by also focusing on the actual humans and context of events surrounding Alexander Hamilton and his peers/family in the 18th century.

What's Included:

  1. Movie Guide: A comprehensive guide for students to follow along as they watch the musical, featuring key questions and discussion prompts.
  2. Google Slides Presentation: 25 engaging, interactive multi-media slides covering the main themes, characters, and historical context of the musical.
  3. Google Forms Multiple Choice Test: An auto-graded 20-question test designed to assess students' understanding of the musical, with questions ranging from plot specifics to thematic insights.
  4. Illustrated Timeline/ Bulletin Board Resource: A visual timeline of events depicted in the musical, helping students to better understand the historical context and sequence of events.
  5. Differentiated Activities: A variety of activities tailored to different learning styles and abilities, including essay questions, creative expression prompts, and discussion points, all specifically designed for Generation-Z learners.
  6. Discussion Prompts: Stimulate classroom conversation with thought-provoking questions about the musical's themes, characters, and historical relevance.
  7. 14 Essay Questions: Deepen students' engagement with essay prompts that encourage critical thinking and personal interpretation.

Save time on lesson planning with this all-inclusive, easy-to-use resource, which seamlessly integrates with Google Classroom. All assessments and activities are designed to be zero-prep, making it easy for educators to provide enriching and engaging material for their students.
