Description

Turn grammar lessons into STEM Challenges with STEM to Win! Integrate ELA with math, writing, and engineering with a spooky, FUN twist! STEM to Win is a game where students EARN their materials by practicing GRAMMAR!

This game includes:

  • Table of Contents
  • Teacher Instruction Page (with photos)
  • Student Answer Page
  • 36 Task Cards
    • 12 Capitalization
    • 12 Punctuation
    • 12 Multiple Meaning Words
  • STEM to Win Challenge
  • Student Recording Pages
  • Answer Key

Here's how to play:

Students will earn toothpicks based on their answers. They read the task card. Answer it. Check their answer. Only take the amount of toothpicks indicated on the card.

Here's the twist, the students have no idea what they're going to be constructing. They won't know until AFTER they have completed the task cards. Once completed, you can let out the secret challenge.

Students use the toothpicks to engineer a stand to hold a cauldron. Students measure the strength of their stand with gummies. No marshmallows? Substitute this material with play-dough or another type of candy.

Materials are simple!

  • Toothpicks
  • Miniature Marshmallows
  • Gummies
  • Miniature Cauldrons (I found mine in the dollar section at Target)
