HOW TO RESEARCH Lesson Keywords Skim & Scan Effective Research Skills NO PREP

Introduce or review how to efficiently research using keywords with this no-prep, 24-page/slide How to Research Using Keywords and Skim and Scan Writing Mini-Lesson. The easy-to-follow Guided Notes process will help students develop two research skills to find the information they need: 1. what keywords to search, and 2. how to “skim and scan”. A PowerPoint, Guided Notes, Guided Practice, and a link to online scavenger hunt practice are included making this a scaffolded approach that uses the “I Do, We Do, You Do” method effectively.

What are Guided Notes?

Guided Notes make note-taking easy! The PowerPoint and the Notes go together. As the teacher presents the PowerPoint, students fill in the blanks on the Guided Notes sheet. This strategy helps students focus, ensures that they get the required information, but makes it easy for them to keep up. PLUS you can provide the answer keys to absent students, to differentiate for special needs students, or on your LMS as a study guide.
