Description

WORD ROOTS are especially important for STEM readers. A strong vocabulary foundation builds subject-area text comprehension and builds test-taking confidence. In addition, these roots are transferable to other areas of study.

I've put together a bundle of exercises that will help students with STEM comprehension. These exercises cover the number roots UNI, BI, TRI, QUAD/QUART, DEC, CENT and MILLI. They include:

1) 3-column chart
2) Root Maps
3) Miscellaneous 1/2 page exercises
4) My "Growing Roots" templates and directions, both small (for bookmarks or keyrings) and large (for wall display). Watch vocabulary "take root" in your classroom and grow into fun, big displays!

YOU CAN USE these versatile exercises for:
Whole-class warmups
Independent classwork
Homework
Study Guides

Teacher keys and directions included for all exercises.

I've used these exercises for students from 5th through 8th grade, but I believe you can extend the grade range both up and down. Enjoy!
