Graphing - Teacher & Student notes plot points, ID intercepts, calculate slope
Also included in
- This bundle includes all the activities and notes that I do in my pre-algebra and algebra 1 classes to lead them through plotting points, identifying intercepts, calculating slope, and beginning to interpret slope. All of these together take my classes about a week in 80 minute blocks (spending 10 mPrice $12.60Original Price $14.00Save $1.40
Description
Here are 4 days' of notes with teacher and student copies. These lead the students through:
1) Plotting points
2) Identifying features of graphs as well as connections to equations and data tables
3) Meanings of the features of graphs
4) Calculating slopes of lines using Rise / run and the slope formula
Each of these sets of notes is meant to be associated with a related (separately sold) activity in which students can practice applying the concepts discussed:
1) The game of Battleship has students plot points (free resource)
2) "Graphing - ID Intercepts & Slope" has students go through a first round of identifying features of the graphs
3a) Crop Circle Activity - leads into "Meanings of the features of graphs"
3b) "Graphing - More ID intercepts & Calculating Slopes" has students use Rise / run to find slopes
4) "Graphing - Calculating slope with formula" has students practice reading (x,y) points off graphs and calculating the slopes of those lines
Each section of notes takes my classes about half an 80min period (usually) and then the 2nd half the class is the associated activity. (exception: Crop Circles typically takes a whole period by itself) With all of these notes + associated activities, this takes my classes about a week to complete.
