Gr. 5 NGSS Earth/Space Sciences: Year-Long Outline and CAST Assessment Targets

CAST Assessment." The state has not released more sample items.

This document is meant for year-long planning. It shows detailed information on each of the Earth and Space Sciences Performance Expectations listed on the CAST Grade 5 Blueprint document. Teachers will see: the PE; content that could be included in assessment items; DCIs associated with each PE; Targets item writers use when developing test items; possible student misconceptions; "released" sample items; and vetted lesson plans (53 lesson links). The lessons can be used by teachers to more fully discuss the content area and develop student understanding.

Also included: question types found on the Grade 5 SBA ELA Summative (informational text and research/inquiry). The sample science items are also formatted, using EASEL, for interactive use by students.
