Google Slides NSW Stage 3 English Unit 5 (Component B) August & Jones

This product is a fully editable Google Slides presentation to complement the unit of work from the NSW Department of Education's English Stage 3, Unit 5: Characterisation (Mentor Text- August & Jones by Pip Harry) Component B ONLY.

The slides use transitions that support an easy-viewing experience for the classroom. They are best viewed in 'present' mode, particularly because some of the slides have answers to questions for students that will pop up AFTER students have been given a chance to discuss.

In the preview (of which I've included Lessons 1 and 2), you can only see the final (still) slides, but please note that EACH slide is designed to transition one paragraph at a time, making the slides less-overwhelming for students. The speaker notes in the slides have also been used to put any extra, helpful information, such as the differentiation prompts for assessment (written as 'Too easy?' or 'Too hard?'- as per the DoE unit).

Due to copyright, there are certain slides that require you to insert pages from the mentor text 'August & Jones' yourself. Prompts are written directly on the slides in red text boxes. After you've inserted the relevant excerpts from the book, you can delete these text boxes.

I have made these slides as user-friendly as possible, with most tasks ready to go (minimal preparation required). Please understand that the unit occasionally asks for the teacher to model writing paragraphs or to co-construct success criteria with the students. I have included the models that have been given directly from the unit, however, if you wish to model or co-construct these yourself, you can of course delete the relevant slides to suit your own purposes.

You can download these slides and make your own copy to edit according to your needs. This includes being able to download your own PowerPoint file directly from Google Slides.
