Description

This is a 2-page quick lab activity for recording observable dominant and recessive traits. Students will first determine and record their phenotypes for 16 different traits. Then they will record and determine the frequency of dominant and recessive traits of their classmates for 9 of the traits. Designed for standard level biology. Differentiated introduction included.

We usually go through the personal traits inventory as a class before the students walk around the room and interview their classmates. The goal is for students to come to the conclusion that the phenotypes most expressed in their classroom are more than likely the dominant trait! This is such a fun activity. Enjoy!

Approximate time needed to complete activity: 15-25 minutes
