Description

Lesson 1: Describe a relationship given a graph.

-Includes interpreting graphs, translating descriptions, and continuous vs discrete.

Lesson 2: Representing relations and functions.

-Includes practice of graphing ordered pairs, the difference between relations and functions, and domain and range. Shows 4 different ways to represent data: ordered pairs, table, graph, and mapping diagram.

Lesson 3: Analyzing Relations and Functions

-Includes review of function vocabulary, determining the domain and range of different functions represented in different ways, and the vertical line test.

Lesson 4: Evaluating Functions from a Graph

-Includes determining if a set of ordered pairs is a function or not, determining if a graph is a function or not using the vertical line test, function notation with points on a graph, and evaluating functions from a graph.

Lesson 5: Evaluating Functions using Function Notation

-Includes substituting values into function notation and evaluating the function.

Lesson 6: Review Activity- Stations

  • Includes Station 1- Radicals, Station 2- Properties of Real Numbers, Station 3- Graphing Stories, Station 4- Evaluating Functions, Station 5- Evaluating Functions from a Graph, Station 6- Function or Not a Function

Lessons have blank spaces where you can erase for the answers.

Examples include think-pair-shares, matching, graphic organizers, sorting, and other various cooperative learning strategies.

Lessons have Do Nows at the beginning and Exit Tickets/Closures at the end of each lesson. Do Nows review the topic from the previous lesson.

Depending on the type of class, each lesson could be more than one period long.

Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
Describe qualitatively the functional relationship between two quantities by analyzing a graph (e.g., where the function is increasing or decreasing, linear or nonlinear). Sketch a graph that exhibits the qualitative features of a function that has been described verbally.
Understand that a function from one set (called the domain) to another set (called the range) assigns to each element of the domain exactly one element of the range. If 𝘧 is a function and 𝘹 is an element of its domain, then 𝘧(𝘹) denotes the output of 𝘧 corresponding to the input 𝘹. The graph of 𝘧 is the graph of the equation 𝘺 = 𝘧(𝘹).
Use function notation, evaluate functions for inputs in their domains, and interpret statements that use function notation in terms of a context.
