    Description

Perfect for distance learning or instruction within the classroom. A semester of engaging content designed for FRESHMAN or SOPHOMORE classes at a huge, bundled, discount price! Included in your purchase are 40 PowerPoint presentations and over 1,000 slides. A bonus presentation is included that contains over 100 slides of free content. These presentations are organized for you in a fashion where your ENTIRE SEMESTER will be set. This curriculum can essentially be paperless, but you also have the option of printing for student use as well. Included in these presentations are questions, activities, bell ringers, video clips, projects, papers, essays, and more. It is all here!

Here are some comments on my other 4 star rating, year-long products for Freshman English: The Entire Year and Junior English: The Entire Year :

“This has truly been a lifesaver and made me a better teacher to my students!” Christel A H. 9/13/18

    “Great resource!” Amanda L, 9/2/18

    “Awesome” Jacqueline C, 8/6/18

The first presentation you will open will give detailed directions about how to best use the product. From there, the SEMESTER is divided in 2 different units; each lesson within every unit is numbered so it is extremely easy to stay organized, know what to do next, and keep moving forward in a way where skills are building.

As a seller, I have over 7,000 reviews on Teacherspayteachers; this bundle of materials is the culmination of 10 years of adding new materials, tasks, and structure to make the classroom experience a great one for both the students and the teacher. This is the curriculum I currently use, and I enjoy doing my job every day because these lessons are targeted to engage students through fun, interactive content that has an excellent balance of “teacher do” versus “student do.”

Here are the 2 units that are the backbone of the SEMESTER:

    • Unit 1 – The unit focuses on the mechanics of writing an essay (clustering, introductions, body paragraphs, concessions, conclusions) while emphasizing the theme of purpose and audience (purpose and audience, word choice and diction). Literary elements (theme, imagery, plot and conflict) and shorts stories are used as a springboard for topics and writing prompts. Note: Additional presentations connected to literary terms are included; essay topics are also included in the extras presentation.

    • Unit 2- The unit continues to build off of unit 1, but shifts more to a focus on the credibility of the communicator. Ethos, pathos, and logos become a central focus as the students are exposed to MLA formatting and citations. Writing principles from Unit 1 are further explored in a more complex, developed way (tone, transitions, concrete details, commentary). Small bits of research, citations, and formatting are infused in assignments associated with the short stories. If time permits, a project from the extras folder (poster project) may be a fun way to close this unit.
