    Through a series of eight lessons, students will explore classic fairy tales, identify their key elements, and learn how these tales can be altered, or "fractured," to create new, unique stories. This unit aims to enhance students' understanding of narrative point of view, character development, plot alteration, and writing their own fractured fairy tales.

    • Lessons 3-6: Writing from a character’s point of view
    • Lesson 7: Fairy Tales on Trial: Comparing & Contrasting character point of view

    • Compare and contrast classic and fractured fairy tales.
    • Analyze how authors alter classic tales to create fractured versions.
    • Plan and write their own fractured fairy tale from a villain's point of view. Participate in mock fairy tale trials
    • Rewrite the ending of classic fairy tales
