Fraction Word Problems- Unlike Denominators

I used this worksheet of 6 fraction word problems after my students had already learned addition and subtraction of fractions with like and unlike denominators, as well as addition and subtraction of mixed numbers. These problems require application of all of those skills. Some problems are single-step and others are multi-step, which was a difficult distinction for my students to make.

We originally used this worksheet and others like it as a teacher-led station during small group work. The students later completed similar problems independently. These problems were used in a 5th grade class and align to Common Core standards.
