Fractal Snowflakes - Scissor Cutting Activity

This packet has 5 pages of black and white print (double sided) that compose 5 snowflake activities -- all of which require basic folding and scissor cutting to create intricate snowflakes.

The goal of this set is to facilitate students learning to fold a piece of paper to create a radial fractal effect, to experience the awe of fractal iteration, and to practice intermediate motor skills.

The term Fractal is introduced with a definition, as the snowflake activity is an example of a fractal design in a simple iteration.

Students recognize visual cues to find and follow the solid black, dashed, and solid grey lines to complete this activity. Once a student has accomplished one, the other snowflakes are a lesson in expanding one's understanding and possibility with the technique.
