What educators are saying

My 4th grade loved these tall tales scripts. We used these in drama class to extend our learning about tall tales in English. Great source! Thanks!
My students are loving the readers theatre. They think its a lot of fun to perform for their classmates. One thing I would add would maybe be a guide to how many lines each character has, so it's easier to plan for students with anxiety or non-readers.

Description

Here are four often overlooked tall tales about the Old West! Included are tall tales about Hiawatha, Casey Jones, John Henry, and Mike Fink! Each tall tale is written in kid friendly language and is a great way to motivate your students to read while at the same time improving oral expression, fluency, and comprehension skills! Your students will love actively learning about how Hiawatha saved his people, Casey Jones drove his train over many perilous journeys, John Henry helped blast through a mountain, and Mike Fink drove keelboats up and down the Mississippi River!

Also included are:

-Anchor charts: "What is a TALL Tale?", as well as a list of vocabulary words from

each readers theater

-Four separate readers theaters

-An activity booklet for each tall tale focusing on characters, settings, and plots

-Venn diagram to compare TALL tales

-Words to Know vocabulary sheet for each story
