Description
This Formal VS Informal Writing Lesson and Activities will help your students with that challenging task of writing formally. My students have such a hard time with letting go of those personal pronouns, and getting rid of the "writing about your writing" language. How many essays have we read where students start with: "have you ever wondered about..." It drives this ELA teacher a little batty. I created this unit to help students get away from that informal language. This lesson is digital and printable and will work well for distance learning.
This lesson will cover:
- Slang/jargon
- Conversational writing
- The dreaded texting language
- Writing about your writing lesson
- Formal writing lesson
- Formal words (ex. changing a lot into a significant amount, etc)
- Lesson on the process of changing sentences and paragraphs from informal to formal writing.
- Three pages of practice and assessment.
I am happy to support you throughout this unit, offer advice, suggestions, or feedback as you teach this unit. Email me at teachbetweenthelinestpt@gmail.com.
