Flipchart teaching and practicing short answer and extended response

This 41 slide flipchart was designed for use through activinspire and is designed to cover between 2 and 3 weeks worth of primary writing instruction. Each slide includes the objective. The flipchart teaches how to answer common core questions that require short answer and extended response questions. The majority of the flipchart is focused on extended response questions.

Initially students are taught the strategy of TTQA - Turn That Question Around and question parts. Students are then taught to answer short response (2-3 questions). Through a series of practices that include a story/article, I Do, We Do and You Do section students are taught to construct paragraphs that cite evidence from the text and give specific details. Paragraphs are formed using a topic TTQA sentence and two supporting details (A and B).

Flipchart is filled with lots of click to reveal features. I Do sections have the finished product typed but hidden. Clicking each section (i.e.. TTQA, Supporting Detail A etc) reveals corresponding text. This structure saves the time of typing but allows the teacher to reveal the parts of the paragraph 1 at a time for instruction purpose.

By the completion of these 9 - 10 days of teaching your students should be able to answer extended response questions with a minimum of an 8 sentence structure paragraph; including two supporting details and text evidence for those details.
