Description

This document set is on the dynamic tension between the Enlightenment and the First Great Awakening. It asks students to consider the forces for separation of church and state and the forces that push American colonial society towards greater religiosity. This is a great skill builder for the APUSH exam or a regular US History class. This is a structured writing activity that will give students the basics of grouping documents and crafting claims in both topic sentences and a thesis. Sample response has been included in this document sent.

Document set includes sermons from George Whitefiled and Jonathan Edwards. It also includes reactions from Ben Franklin.
